Bristol companies urged to become Mission Makers

Published On: October 7th, 2025

Three in four British businesses give nothing to charity, according to new research from the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF)*

Many say they haven’t considered giving or feel too small to make a difference.

Great Western Air Ambulance Charity (GWAAC) is calling on local companies to buck the trend through its new Mission Maker Corporate Challenge, which makes it simple to fund a lifesaving air ambulance mission in 2026 for £2,200.

Thanks to a generous anonymous donor, the first ten businesses to pledge by 1 December 2025 will have their fundraising matched pound for pound, doubling their impact to fund two missions. This is a direct way for businesses to make a tangible difference in their local community.

Engaging staff and making an impact

Businesses who take part will be recognised as Mission Makers and can involve their teams in creative fundraising throughout 2026. Every effort contributes to keeping the air ambulance flying, something which is so important as GWAAC’s mission numbers rise—2024 was GWAAC’s busiest year on record with 2,272 people in urgent need requiring immediate critical care.

Participants also receive:

  • Recognition across the charity’s website, newsletters and social media
  • Extra incentives such as free coffee, an airbase visit and CPR training
  • Opportunities for team engagement and community visibility

Joe Hughes, GWAAC Strategic Partnerships Manager, said: “Mission Maker gives local businesses a real opportunity to make a tangible difference. Whether it’s a chilli-eating challenge, a bake sale, a half marathon, or you sell products to customers with a % donation, every effort counts towards funding a lifesaving mission. With match funding for the first ten pledges, your team’s fundraising goes twice as far.”

What businesses say

Kim Galpin, Marketing and Communications Manager at EG Carter, who will host their 2026 quiz to support the cause, said:

“Our partnership with the amazing team at GWAAC is something we’re all really proud of at EG Carter. Being part of Mission Makers is a fantastic opportunity to drive even more positive change in our local area, while enjoying some friendly competition in support of a charity that any one of us might need one day.”
