Great Western Air Ambulance Charity’s (GWAAC) Whiteladies Road shop in Bristol, is celebrating its one-year anniversary on Wednesday 4 March 2026.
To mark the occasion, the shop is doing a special celebratory window display for the first week of March and local people are being invited to drop in, explore the popular clothing and gift ranges on offer, and find out more about their air ambulance charity.
Shop Manager Ceara Clark says, “We have found the Whiteladies Road community to be very welcoming and supportive over the shop’s first year. We are very lucky and grateful to have a dedicated and amazing team of volunteers. The community has been very generous; donations are always needed and welcome. Within our shop, we continue to aim to keep up to date with latest fashion trends to appeal to the next generation and encourage more people to shop pre-loved goods and support the charity. Our team are looking forward to continuing to build relationships in the community in the future.”
Great Weston Air Ambulance’s shop on Whiteladies Road is the charity’s eleventh shop to open (it has thirteen in total across the region it serves) and its third one in Bristol. The charity’s shops are helping to raise much-needed funds to keep its critical care and air ambulance service operational for the people of Bristol and beyond. Great Weston Air Ambulance’s shops also act as a hub in local communities for shoppers, supporters and volunteers to learn more about GWAAC’s lifesaving service.
Ceara says, “Donations are always welcome and needed! We always need more ladies and men’s clothing and accessories. Also, children’s clothing and toys, bric a brac and books.”

One of the volunteers for the shop shared, “I started volunteering at the Whiteladies shop soon after it opened. I really enjoy the varied work, meeting and helping customers. If you’ve got some spare time I’d definitely recommend it”.

GWAAC’s highly trained and experienced Critical Care Doctors, Advanced Practitioners and Specialist Paramedics in Critical Care, bring the skills and expertise of a hospital emergency department to the patient in Bristol, Gloucestershire, Bath and North East Somerset and parts of Wiltshire.
2025 was GWAAC’s busiest year on record with 2,344 people in urgent need of medical care. GWAAC’s crew were called to help 668 people in Bristol (28% of all call-outs), making it the second busiest region for the charity and the second year running that GWAAC was tasked to over 600 people in the city.
GWAAC’s Critical Care Team is needed by more than six patients a day on average and rushes to treat them by helicopter or critical care car. You will be more likely to see one of the charity’s bright green and blue critical care cars out and about in Bristol rather than the helicopter due to the close proximity of GWAAC’s airbase to the city.
On average each mission costs around ?2,200 to attend. GWAAC receives no day-to-day government or National Lottery funding and instead relies on local people for support.
