North Somerset Council has secured Warrens Bakery as the new tenant for 57 High Street in Weston-super-Mare.

The Cornwall-based retailer will open its 44th store next month (June 2025) in the recently renovated premises.

The council’s placemaking project, funded by a £20m government grant, aims to revitalize Weston’s High Street. Contractor Bray & Slaughter restored the unit, installing a traditional shopfront and energy efficiency upgrades, aligning with the council’s climate emergency commitment.

Councillor Mark Canniford highlighted the project’s positive impact, attracting a new business, boosting footfall, and creating local jobs. He welcomed Warrens Bakery and encouraged interested businesses to contact Carter Jonas regarding the remaining restored units at 67-69 and 73 High Street.

Mendip cons

Craig Wood from Warrens Bakery expressed excitement about opening in Weston-super-Mare, offering their renowned pasties and fresh produce.

The new store is expected to create five to ten part-time jobs. This development signifies a positive step in the council’s vision to rejuvenate the town centre and attract further investment.

The successful leasing of 57 High Street demonstrates the potential of investing in retail properties to stimulate economic activity and enhance the local environment for both residents and visitors.
