Bristol Leads the Way As Activity-Based Socialising Rises After Covid Era

As a girl whose entire job is booking amazing events for people at King Pins Cabot Circus, there’s definitely been a huge shift in the way we socialise post-pandemic.

My working theory is we all figured out during lockdown that we can have great food, great wine, and great company in the comfort of our own home, so why would we need to leave? When we have become so comfortable hosting events ourselves, we have little use for traditional event spaces anymore- especially when we save so much money by staying inside. Consequently, we are seeing a societal shift to reclaim the Art of Hosting.

Dinner parties are trending on social media and cook-from-scratch is all the rage. Hospitality venues are closing, with Lizard Lounge joining Fireside, The Clifton, and more as the latest business to close its doors in Bristol.

So how are companies like Professionals at Play (who operate King Pins and Roxy Lanes) still opening new venues amidst all this closure?

Since everyone seems to have become so much more practised at hosting themselves, hospitality venues have needed to evolve to provide something people cannot find in their own homes. Enter: the activities bar. Here at King Pins we offer something you can’t replicate at home- state of the art ten pin bowling lanes, a massive karaoke room, tech darts, a capacity for 250 guests- the list goes on.

We are something truly worth leaving the house for, because how are you going to beat your friends at ice-free curling in your living room?!
