Great Western Air Ambulance Charity to hold rooftop abseil at Ashton Gate Stadium!

Great Western Air Ambulance Charity (GWAAC) is holding an abseil at Ashton Gate Stadium on Sunday 5 May to raise vital funds to keep their critical care and air ambulance service operational for the people of Bristol and beyond.

Experience Ashton Gate Stadium like never before as you ascend through the stands and onto the roof of the Dolman Stand before daring to drop 75ft down to the side of the pitch. Will you dare the drop?

It’s easy to enter and participants will receive a Welcome pack, help and advice to help you reach your fundraising target, a uniquely Bristol experience and bragging rights every time you visit the stadium!

Kayleigh Parker decided to take on the Dare the Drop challenge and had this to say “I would really encourage anyone who can to get involved especially those rugby and football supporters who will get a fantastic opportunity to see this iconic stadium (and our beautiful city) from a unique vantage point whilst supporting an amazing cause.”

Charlie Rowen, Events Manager at GWAAC, said: “We’re so grateful to Ashton Gate Stadium for giving us the opportunity to raise money and test our supporters head for heights! We rely on the people we serve to help us raise the £4 million we need each year to stay operational. The money raised will help us to provide critical care to those who need it the most – saving more lives.

In 2023 in Bristol, GWAAC’s specialist team of Critical Care Doctors, Advanced Practitioners and Specialist Paramedics in Critical Care rushed to help 537 local people in need of lifesaving care, people like Joshua Beavers. Josh needed the help of GWAAC when he unexpectedly collapsed at his local gym in Clifton from a brain haemorrhage.
