The Bristol Sea Shanty Festival Returns 22nd September

The City of Bristol boasts a remarkable maritime heritage, beautifully displayed along 2 nautical miles of bustling harbourside that continues to improve.

 

There’s a vibrant atmosphere with numerous attractions, including stunning sights, fantastic pubs, and exceptional dining establishments.

 

Boasting more ocean-themed musical talent than any other UK city and home to the finest sea shanty groups and choirs within a day’s sail, it’s only natural that we host a maritime music festival. Thus, once more, local shanty enthusiasts High and Dry present the free Bristol Shanty Festival.

 

Enjoy 50 sets featuring nautical tunes performed by an array of skilled artists—all at no cost.

 

While entry is complimentary at all venues, there will be opportunities for charitable donations throughout the event; your generosity in supporting this cause would be greatly appreciated.

 

Among the shanty performers scheduled are All at Sea, Fire and Ice, High and Dry, Missin’ Tackle, Out of Tunas, Piratitude, Poole Me Hearties, Port of Bristol Shanty Crew,

 

Standing Stones, Storm Force 10 and The 85ers. Join us on September 21st for the Bristol Sea Shanty Festival!

 

 

The locations are situated along the picturesque Bristol harbourside—many with views over or actually floating on water! The venues include:

 

– Main Stage in Brunel Square

– Underfall Yard

– MV Balmoral

– The Junction

– The Arnolfini

– The L Shed

– The Shakespeare

 

There won’t be any admission fees required at any venue; however it’s important to note that charity collectors will be on hand throughout the festival.

 

Parking availability in Bristol will be scarce and costly. Although there are options at Brunel Square and Wapping Wharf, they are quite limited.

 

Our charming venues line the floating harbor, easily accessible from Cumberland Road, which is serviced by the M2 Metrobus.

 

The most efficient option is to utilize the Long Ashton Park and Ride located just a couple of miles away. The M2 stops at Cumberland Basin for Underfall Yard, SSGB for the main stage in Brunel Square, and Wapping Wharf for additional venues. It’s only a 10-minute journey.
