Share Bristol is on its way north now

Published On: October 4th, 2024

Share Bristol has announced that the next location for their Library of Things, which will bring sharing to North Bristol, will be at the University of the West of England, Bristol.

A successful Crowdfunder, which has raised over £10,000 so far, will help them open this new site in the coming months. Students, staff and members of the public will be able to make use of the new location, which will be open to all members of Share Bristol’s Library of Things.

The new site will be accessible by public transport, as it will be located next to the main bus stops at UWE Bristol. There will also be short-term parking available for those picking up or returning bulky items, like carpet cleaners, mitre saws, lawnmowers, or gazebos.

The small charity, which has been successfully running a Library of Things on Kingswood High Street since 2021, has been going from strength to strength this year.

First, Share Bristol opened a new location for its Library of Things on East St, Bedminster, in June 2024, and recently they announced the launch of the Bedminster Community Hub in partnership with Bristol City Council and WECA. In September, Share Bristol reached a new milestone, with over 700 households now active members of their sharing community, and nearly 1,700 items available to borrow across their sites.

Mendip cons

Share Bristol’s Crowdfunder has gathered support from people across Bristol, as well as match funding from Aviva and the Mortgage Advice Bureau Foundation. With many people choosing membership of Share Bristol as their reward for supporting the Crowdfunder, there are now more than 700 people in Bristol who are active members of Share Bristol’s Library of Things.
