You haven’t truly experienced a Bristol summer until you’ve sat on the grass at these two massive, free-to-enter weekends.

1. Bristol Harbour Festival When: 17 – 19 July 2026Where: Bristol Harbourside (Stretching from Thekla to Underfall Yard)The Vibe: Completely free and completely packed.Our historic waterfront turns into a massive, three-day playground drawing over 250,000 people. The water fills with stunning tall ships and maritime displays, while the docks feature a curated mix of world-class circus acts, live music stages, family entertainment, and rows of local food stalls.

2. Bristol International Balloon Fiesta. When: 7 – 9 August 2026Where: Ashton Court EstateThe Vibe: Early mornings, late nights, and eyes on the skies.Europe’s largest hot air balloon meeting returns to the rolling hills of Ashton Court.

If the weather plays ball, you can catch the breathtaking mass ascents at dawn (6:00 AM) and dusk (6:00 PM) as more than 100 balloons float across the suspension bridge. Don’t miss the famous Friday and Saturday night “Night Glows,” where tethered balloons light up like giant lightbulbs in time to a live soundtrack.

Local Tip: Entry is free, but if you are driving, parking tickets must be booked well in advance. Better yet, stretch your legs and join the sea of people walking across the Clifton Suspension Bridge to get there.

Live Music & Culture Lineup

Bristol’s music scene hits maximum output over the next few months. From open-air harbourside gigs to immersive woodland sessions, here is what’s on the radar:

Bristol Sounds ( 28 June 2026) The open-air summer series is currently taking over the Harbourside Amphitheatre. Catch heavy hitters like The Kooks, Super Furry Animals, The Streets, OMD, and Royel Otis right by the water.

Forest Live at Westonbirt Arboretum (24 – 28 June 2026)An incredible gig series set against a stunning canopy of trees just up the road. The 2026 lineup features Fatboy Slim, Deacon Blue, Lightning Seeds, UB40 featuring Ali Campbell, Rick Astley, and Richard Ashcroft.

Bristol Pride (27 June – 12 July 2026 | Pride Day: 11 July)One of the UK’s biggest pride celebrations kicks off with a massive fortnight of comedy nights, circus showcases, and queer improv. It all culminates on Pride Day (11 July) at The Downs, headlined by the legendary Sister Sledge and Jason Donovan.

SIREN Bristol (23 – 25 July 2026)The Harbourside Amphitheatre lights up again for a massive three-day weekend. This year’s curation features live sets from The Maccabees, Faithless, and a huge drum & bass party celebrating Hospital30 with Hospital Records.

Feast Live (31 July – 2 August 2026)A brand-new music festival launching this summer. Weekend highlights include a Sound of West End Musicals night, the Hacienda Classical orchestra remixing club anthems, and an unmissable closing vocal set from Becky Hill.

Old City Sounds (August Bank Holiday Weekend)A completely free city takeover. King Street, St Nicholas Street, Welsh Back, and St Stephen’s Church transform into acoustic hubs, electronic blocks, and family zones showcasing the best of Bristol’s grassroots music.

FORWARDS & FORWARDS Presents (28 – 30 August 2026)Closing out the summer on Clifton Downs, this festival pairs massive international artists with vital social debates. Catch Tems, Self Esteem, and Wet Leg, right after an exclusive, first-ever Bristol headline show from Lorde.

ICC Women’s T20 World Cup (June 2026)The Bristol County Ground is hosting six thrilling matches of the ICC Women’s T20 tournament, backed by free cricket challenges and fan zones across the city center.

Weston Wallz (17 – 26 July 2026)Brought to you by the team behind Upfest, this 10-day street art festival brings international muralists to Weston-super-Mare to paint 20 brand-new public walls alongside community workshops.

Cinema Rediscovered (22 – 26 July 2026)Celebrating its 10th anniversary at Watershed, this film-lover’s favorite features beautifully restored classic films and a massive 50th-anniversary celebration of Bristol’s own Aardman Animations.
