35 Affordable Homes Handed Over at Weston’s Haywood Village to Tackle Housing Waiting List

A fresh allocation of 35 affordable homes has been completed at the Haywood Village development, providing housing for families on North Somerset’s waiting list.

The handover marks the latest phase delivered by housing association LiveWest in partnership with Persimmon Homes. To date, 105 affordable properties have been completed across the site.

The new allocation includes properties designated for social rent, affordable rent, and shared ownership. Among the completed homes are two purpose-built, wheelchair-accessible properties designed for residents with mobility requirements.

Located on the former Weston Airfield site, Haywood Village is planned to deliver up to 2,500 homes alongside community amenities, including two primary schools and a local centre.

Councillor Ciaran Cronnelly (Weston-super-Mare Winterstoke) inspected the accessible properties ahead of resident move-ins:

“It is always positive to see new affordable housing built, given the severe challenges we face across the housing sector. This handover is another practical step toward ensuring those most in need in our town can access a high-quality home.”

Parry Morgan, Head of Construction and Delivery at LiveWest, confirmed the homes would be allocated to residents with local ties, helping address regional demand for secure, energy-efficient social housing.
