Calling all allotment holders:
Bristol City Council is currently consulting on changes to allotment rules and rents. The consultation closes next Monday, 22 January so make sure you have your say:

We have written to the council asking for an extension to the consultation period as some allotment holders were not notified that the consultation was taking place. We are also concerned about some of the proposals, which could see a loss of biodiversity as trees are cut down, the introduction of new fees and, in some cases, a doubling of rents. We are meeting with tenants at Talbot Road Allotments later this week to hear their concerns.

Sign our Brislington Greenway Petition:
Time is running out to sign our petition opposing the West of England Combined Authority’s destructive, road-building proposals for Brislington West. The petition currently has over 1,800 signatures. If enough people sign, we could force a rethink. If you agree with us, please sign and share the petition, which we will present to the West of England mayor, Dan Norris, this month.
Cross-party support for our library proposals:
Since November, library closures across Bristol have amounted to 300 days and it is common now to see 5 or 6 libraries across our city closed every day. The closures are as a result of a recruitment freeze, but the savings from this are very small and the impact on the loss of free libraries providing warm spaces is immense and is having a real impact on library users. We are pleased the rest of the council agreed and unanimously backed a Lib Dem motion calling for a lifting of the recruitment freeze. Let’s hope the Mayor will act upon this vote.
Post-Christmas increase in fly tipping:
Bristol City Council’s Neighbourhood Enforcement Team have told us they are experiencing a post-Christmas increase in fly tipped waste reports. We recently reported fly tipping in Repton Road Car Park and the NET team have now visited to search for anybody’s details found amongst the waste so that appropriate enforcement can take place, such as the issuing of a Fixed Penalty Notice or in some cases prosecution at court. Please help us keep Brislington beautiful by reporting all fly tipping offences here:

Bollards!
We recently reported a broken bollard near the junction of Wick Road and Bath Road, opposite the United Reform Church. A council officer informed us, “I have attended the area in question and raised a repair with our contractors to replace the bollard, ideally the same style if they are able to source one. I’ve also noted that some of the other nearby bollards are presenting deterioration to their outer shells so have asked for these to be replaced as well. These repairs aim to be carried out within 10 working days.”
