Tabby’s Spontaneous Hair Chop raises £750 for local children’s hospice
A nine-year-old girl from Puriton, just outside Bridgwater, has wowed her community with an incredible act of kindness that will benefit 2 charities.
Tabby recently decided to part with her luscious locks in a spontaneous “chop” donating her hair to the Little Princess Trust, a charity that provides real hair wigs to children suffering hair loss. Tabby also raised an impressive £750 in sponsorship for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).
Tabby’s heartfelt effort was inspired by her own experiences with the charity, as her 14-year-old brother, Logan, who has Cerebral Palsy, frequently visits Charlton Farm Hospice in Wraxall, receiving invaluable support. Tabby’s mum, who has seen firsthand the impact the hospice has had on their family, is incredibly proud of her daughter’s generosity.

· Children’s Hospice South West was first registered with the charity commission in 1991 and celebrated its 30th Anniversary in 2021.
· It is dedicated to making the most of short and precious lives, providing the best possible hospice care for babies, children and young people living with life-limiting conditions and their families.
· There are 3 hospices in the South West: Little Bridge House in Barnstaple (opened 1995), Charlton Farm in Bristol (opened 2007) and Little Harbour in St Austell (opened 2011).
· CHSW is the only children’s hospice in the South West. It costs around £14 million to run the 3 hospice sites each year and the charity relies almost entirely on voluntary contributions.
· CHSW delivers a range of services including hospice stays and days, specialist play, Music Therapy, activities for siblings, palliative and emergency care, end of life care, bereavement support and specialist medical care – all available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. · The services are free for families.
