A leading housebuilder in Bristol is donating the funds it would have spent on a staff Christmas party to homelessness charity, Caring in Bristol.
Barratt Homes’ Bristol division is donating £5,000 to the charity, which supports people experiencing or at risk of homelessness and works with the public and community partners to bring about lasting change in Bristol and beyond.
Andrea Pilgrim, sales director at Barratt Bristol, which covers the wider Bristol area, says:
“We are of course disappointed we aren’t able to host our annual Christmas party for staff due to the pandemic; however, it’s incredibly important to us to recognise everyone’s efforts and hard work, so we’ve just had to be a bit more creative with our festivities this year!
“We’ll be celebrating with our team virtually and have also decided to donate the Christmas party savings to a local Bristol charity doing crucial work to support homeless people all year round, but with specific support activities during the festive period.”
Edd Smith, head of income generation at Caring in Bristol, said:
“Caring in Bristol are delighted to receive Barratt Bristol’s generous donation, which will be used to provide vital hot food, companionship, and Christmas cheer to some of the most vulnerable people in our community. As we approach the end of what has been a challenging year for Bristol we are hugely grateful for the company’s continued support and commitment to helping others.”
To support Caring in Bristol’s flagship Christmas homelessness project please visit their website. This will be the 31st year for their Christmas project, Caring at Christmas. Over the days that Caring at Christmas 2019 ran, Caring in Bristol provided day support to 429 homeless and vulnerable people in Bristol and served over 2500 hot meals. This year the charity is warning of a potential increase in clients who are street homeless needing access to emergency support.
