With party co-leader Carla Denyer’s election campaign in Bristol Central well underway, Bristol Green Party is announcing its candidates for the remaining constituencies in the city – a team of dedicated and passionate councillors and activists, each committed to representing and advocating for the diverse needs of their respective Bristol communities.
Theatre professional Ani Stafford-Townsend will be standing for Bristol East, social care worker Lorraine Francis for Bristol North East, democracy activist Mary Page for Bristol North West, and Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) activist Jai Breitnauer for Bristol South.
Councillor Lorraine Francis, standing for Bristol North East, brings her extensive experience as a social care worker to her campaign. She is dedicated to improving social services, mental health support, and community welfare. “As a social care worker, I
have seen first-hand the challenges our community faces,” Lorraine said. “I am determined to advocate for better social care, mental health services, and support for vulnerable populations in Parliament.”
Mary Page, a democracy activist who led the successful ‘It’s Our City Bristol’ campaign to scrap the mayoral system in Bristol, is running for Bristol North West. Her platform focuses on transparency, accountability, and empowering local communities. “True democracy puts power in the hands of the people,” said Mary Page. “I am committed to ensuring transparent, accountable governance that genuinely represents and includes our diverse communities’ needs.”
Jai Breitnauer, standing for Bristol South, is a dedicated SEND activist. Her campaign focuses on improving educational resources, support services, and opportunities for children and families affected by SEND.
“Every child deserves the chance to succeed, regardless of their needs,” said Jai. “I will fight for better funding, resources, and support for SEND programs to ensure all children in Bristol South have the opportunities they deserve.”
Councillor Ani Stafford-Townsend, running for Bristol East, is committed to protecting green spaces and addressing the root causes of knife crime affecting young people. “Our green spaces are essential for the health and well-being of our community and must be preserved,” Ani said.
“I am dedicated to tackling knife crime through education, community support, and preventive measures to create a safer environment for our youth.”
Councillor Stafford-Townsend continued:
“We believe in a future where our environment is protected, our public services are robust, and our communities are safe and thriving. Together, we can make a significant impact on our communities and build a brighter future for all.”
