Marks & Spencers has officially revealed its plans to return to Bristol’s Cabot Circus
Marks & Spencers has officially revealed its plans to return to Bristol during today’s AGM, announcing the launch of a brand-new flagship store located in Cabot Circus.
This new store will span 80,000 sq ft and is set to be supported by a £21 million investment from the retailer. It aims to provide customers with an extensive selection of M&S Food, Clothing, and Beauty products. The opening is projected to generate around 150 new jobs and aligns with the company’s strategy for rotating stores to ensure that they are situated optimally in suitable spaces.
Cabot Circus will enhance M&S’s existing presence in Bristol, which includes locations such as Avonmeads, Eastgate, Imperial Park, Whiteladies Road, Cribbs Causeway, and Longwell Green.
Currently underway is work on transforming the Cribbs Causeway location.
In their recent full-year results presentation, Marks & Spencers announced intentions to open up to four new full-line stores as well as nine new food halls throughout the UK within this financial year.
CEO Stuart Machin expressed excitement over today’s announcement during the AGM while addressing a shareholder inquiry: “We’re thrilled to share our return to Bristol city center today. At Cabot Circus we can create a flagship store designed to offer an exceptional shopping experience for customers and highlight everything great about M&S. Our store rotation initiative focuses on ensuring we have optimal locations and spaces that motivate and delight our customers in urban areas. This £21 million investment enables us to further develop our presence across the South West.”
At present, M&S operates more than 45 outlets across the South West region with over 4,000 employees collaborating with more than 1,100 Select Farmers locally. This newest investment builds upon approximately £6 million infused into its South West operations over the last three years.
Rita-Rose Gagné, CEO of Hammerson stated: “We are excited about continuing our partnership expansion with M&S at Cabot Circus; we’ve witnessed firsthand the positive effects they’ve had in other locations. M&S resonates strongly within our core catchment areas and this upcoming store will help reinforce our goal of establishing a leading destination thriving at Bristol’s heart.”
