Bristol Is Always A Good Idea: Old City Sounds and Bristol Cocktail Weekend land in city
The epicentre of vibrant cultural activities, Bristol is set to welcome the return of both Old City Sounds and Bristol Cocktail Weekend.
These key events will bring music, entertainment and unique experiences to residents and visitors, reinforcing that Bristol is Always a Good Idea.
Old City Sounds: Free-to-attend August Bank Holiday celebration
Returning for its second edition on Saturday, 24th August, Old City Sounds, organised by Bristol City Centre Business Improvement District (BID) promises a day of music and family fun in Bristol’s Old City.
Following the success of its inaugural event in 2023, this year’s free-to-attend celebration will feature performances at iconic venues such as The Old Duke as part of The Old Duke Jazz Festival, Welsh Back’s 6 O’clock Gin Boat and eclectic sounds in venues throughout St Nicholas Street.
Transforming the Old City with an array of live music, the event will highlight the area’s vibrant cultural heritage. The Kids Zone at St Stephen’s Church will offer workshops and activities, ensuring entertainment for all ages. This one-day celebration is set to become a staple in Bristol’s cultural calendar.
Bristol Cocktail Weekend: A flavour experience
From Thursday, 28th September to Sunday, 1st October, Bristol Cocktail Weekend will shake into Bristol for its second edition, offering a unique cocktail adventure across the city’s top bars.
Supported by Bristol City Centre BID, the unique event will showcase signature cocktails from participating venues, including Bambalan, Be At One, Blame Gloria and The Botanist amongst many more, for just £6 each.
Brought to life by Living For The Weekend, this event promises a cocktail experience like no other. With some of Bristol’s finest bars participating, residents and visitors will have the opportunity to explore new and innovative cocktail flavours.
Bristol Is Always A Good Idea: New locations
A physical reminder that our city is the place to be, the iconic “Bristol Is Always A Good Idea” light installation by Real Hackney Dave will continue to tour Bristol over the coming weeks.
Culture vultures will find the piece at The Bristol Beacon until 8th August, before it moves to The Bristol International Balloon Fiesta, Folk House and The Bristol Old Vic later in August. Each location offers a unique backdrop, allowing all to enjoy this glowing reminder of Bristol’s charm.
Looking Ahead: Festive lights and Christmas activities
As summer gives way to autumn, Bristol City Centre BID is already planning for a festive winter. This year’s Christmas activities and festive lights promise to bring warmth and joy to the city, culminating in the highly anticipated Bristol Light Festival 2025. Dates and details will be announced soon, ensuring that Bristol remains a top destination into the colder months.
