Bristol Half-marathon sold out with two months to go

Published On: March 10th, 2026

With just two months to go until this year’s  Great Bristol Run on 9-10 May 2026, places in the half-marathon have sold out – and spaces for the 10k are selling fast.

Well known for its inclusive, positive atmosphere, the event draws people from across the South West and beyond, with crowds of supporters lining the streets to cheer them on. The scenic 10k and half-marathon routes include stretches along the waterside, green spaces such as Castle Park and Queens Square, views of the Avon Gorge – and plenty of on-course entertainment along the way.

The Junior & Mini event, which takes place on Saturday 9 May, is also proving popular. Held in partnership with Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Appeal, the dedicated charity for Bristol Children’s Hospital, the Minis (aged 3-8 years old) enjoy a 1.5km dash and Juniors (aged 8-15) take on their own 2.5k challenge.

This year will also see the sixth annual Visually Impaired (VI) Runners 10k Challenge, the first dedicated race in the UK for blind and partially sighted runners.

Paul Foster, Chief Executive of The Great Run Company, said: “This year’s AJ Bell Great Bristol Run is proving more popular than ever, as people of all backgrounds, ages and abilities sign up to take part.

“If you’ve missed out on a half-marathon place, there are still a limited number of charity spaces available, so why not run and raise money for a fantastic cause?”

2026 medal reveal

The medals for this year’s event have now been revealed, with the designs for the half-marathon and 10k medals inspired by the Bristol flower (Lychnis chalcedonica).

With 13 segments to represent the distance covered, the half-marathon medal uses a red colour scheme to represent the flower, while the 10k medal includes 10 segments to represent the distance covered, incorporating a bright blue colour scheme inspired by the vibrant houses of Cliftonwood. Both medals feature words highlighting examples of what the

city is known for and both display a 3D embossed image of the Clifton Suspension Bridge on the back.

Entries for the 10k are selling fast and are expected to sell out weeks in advance. To secure your place visit: www.greatrun.org/events/great-bristol-run
