Bristol Zoological Society appoints Grundon as waste management partner
Bristol Zoological Society has chosen Grundon to be its waste management partner as it embarks on plans to create a new conservation zoo on the city’s northern fringe.
The Society, a conservation and education charity, is based at Bristol Zoo Project near Cribbs Causeway.
Grundon has just won a three year contract to support the site with waste management and recycling services, in anticipation of a significant increase in footfall over coming years.
“It’s great to be working with such a high-profile Bristol organisation,” said Daniel Peacey, regional sales manager for Grundon.
“The zoo will be a key client for us and we’ll be bringing our full suite of services to them as they develop.
“Reporting is a big thing – we’ll be helping them identify potential improvements with real detailed analysis of their various waste streams and providing suggestions on how they can continue to generate even better recycling figures.
“Essentially we’re looking to be a sustainability partner, not just a provider of services.”
Grundon’s services will be provided in a phased approach, starting with more than 60 bins for mixed recycling, compostable packaging and other waste, alongside larger 1,100 litre bins in the service yard.
Two bins will be provided at the zoo’s head offices in Hollywood Mansion House next door, where Grundon will also provide confidential shredding services.

“Grundon were selected as our waste management provider after a rigorous selection process.
“We believe Grundon will provide the insight and expert advice needed to enhance our recycling efforts and identify further improvements that support and reflect our worldwide conservation efforts, contributing to our mission of Saving Wildlife Together.”
Grundon has been established in Bristol since 2020, during which time the company has set up several key sustainability initiatives, including launching a £300k electric collection vehicle on to the city’s streets last summer.
Across the south of England it manages waste streams at a catalogue of major events and sporting occasions, including Royal Ascot and the British Grand Prix, as well as sporting clubs such as Forest Green Rovers and Gloucestershire Cricket Club.
