St Peter’s Hospice Opens New Shops in South Gloucestershire

Published On: October 26th, 2026

St Peter’s Hospice has expanded its local retail presence this October with the opening of two new charity outlets in Emersons Green and Mangotsfield.

The new locations will raise essential funds to support adult hospice care across Bristol, South Gloucestershire, and North Somerset. Operating costs for the charity total approximately £30,000 per day, making income generated through its network of 45 retail shops vital to maintaining free patient care.

The expansion includes a high street boutique and a large-format superstore tailored for furniture, white goods, and household electricals.

Standard Store vs. Retail Superstore: What’s on Offer?

Both locations cater to sustainable, pre-loved shopping while providing distinct services for local residents looking to buy or donate:

  • Emersons Green Store (Emersons Way): Conveniently located just behind Emersons Retail Park, this shop stocks pre-loved clothing, accessories, toys, books, and homeware. It features a dedicated drop-off donation station for easy community drop-offs.

  • Mangotsfield Superstore (Richmond Road): The charity’s fourth large-format superstore—following successful openings in Portishead, Abbey Wood, and the Clifton Triangle. Beyond fashion and home accessories, it stocks larger items like white goods, electricals, and furniture.

  • Free Collection Service: To support the Mangotsfield Superstore, the hospice operates a free collection service for large donated furniture items, alongside a home delivery service for shoppers.

Sustainable Shopping Supporting End-of-Life Care

John Broomhead, Retail Director at St Peter’s Hospice, highlighted the dual benefit of pre-loved retail for local communities:

“We are delighted to bring not one but two new stores to the local area. Each has a slightly different offering but both have the same goal – helping to fund free Hospice care for people in the community who need us.

“Pre-loved shopping is a brilliant way to find something special while making a positive difference. Our charity shops are full of hidden gems and unexpected finds you simply wouldn’t see on the high street. By choosing pre-loved, shoppers can give quality items a second life, helping to reduce waste and make more sustainable choices – while also supporting our charity’s work in making sure our patients have access to the best possible end-of-life care.”

Volunteer Opportunities Open

Store managers are actively recruiting volunteers for both new locations. Flexible roles are available ranging from sorting stock and organizing donations behind the scenes to working on the tills.
