Have your say on proposals on how Redcatch Park tennis courts are run

Bristol City Council has launched a consultation regarding potential changes to the management, maintenance and financing of the tennis courts in Redcatch Park located in Knowle.

Although currently free to use, the costs associated with sustaining these facilities are becoming increasingly burdensome for the authority.

Under consideration is the proposal for Redcatch Park’s tennis courts to participate in the extensively established ‘Parks Tennis Operating Model’, which has already demonstrated success throughout Eastville Park, St George Park and Canford Park since 2019. If implemented, individuals would be required to book time slots for usage at a fee. Wesport, a tennis operator, would assume accountability for all aspects associated with operation and upkeep of these courts.

Mayor of Bristol, Marvin Rees, said: “Out of all the council’s park tennis courts, Redcatch Park is now the only multi court site in our parks which does not have a long-term sustainable plan. Joining the Parks Tennis Operating Model is an exciting opportunity for this location. It would mean the courts are regularly maintained and facilities are improved, all whilst securing access to high quality tennis courts for the people of Knowle and beyond.”
