Clevedon Moonlight Memory Walk: Family to Walk in Memory of Amazing Austin

Published On: September 17th, 2026

A North Somerset family will walk along Clevedon seafront next month in memory of their seven-year-old son, raising vital funds for the hospice that supported them through their darkest days.

Austin died in February 2024 following lifelong complex medical conditions that required round-the-clock oxygen support. Known to his family as “The Amazing Austin”—a superhero moniker he chose himself—he was renowned for his vibrant personality and love of Disney films like Frozen, Moana, and Tangled.

Now, his parents, Zoe and Rich, alongside brothers Lance and Henry, will join the Moonlight Memory Walk at Salthouse Fields on Saturday 3 October 2026 to celebrate his life and back Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

‘Five Precious Days Together’

The family were first introduced to CHSW’s Charlton Farm hospice in Wraxall just weeks before Austin passed away. Following his death, the hospice provided a dedicated space where the family could remain together for five days before the funeral.

“Being able to take him to Charlton Farm instead of going straight to the funeral directors helped us so much,” said Austin’s mother, Zoe. “For five days, we were able to be together as a family. They fed us, looked after Lance and Henry, and gave us the time and space we needed to grieve.”

During their stay, hospice staff helped the family create lasting keepsakes, including hand casts, paintings, and a fingerprint tree canvas. When the time came to leave, Charlton Farm staff lined the driveway in the rain, blowing bubbles to give Austin a fitting send-off.

“There is always someone we can talk to here, no matter what,” Zoe added. “It is like we have become part of their family.”
