Share Bristol Joins Big Give Small Charities Week
Share Bristol Joins Big Give Small Charities Week to raise funds and get more of Bristol borrowing, not buying.
Share Bristol, a small charity which runs the city’s pioneering Library of Things, is calling on the community to support its latest fundraising campaign through the Big Give Small Charities Week, running from 23rd-30th June 2025.
The campaign aims to raise £2,500, which will be matched pound-for-pound, doubling the impact of every donation. Funds raised will help Share Bristol expand its network of Libraries of Things, making borrowing more accessible to communities across Bristol.
“Borrowing instead of buying is a simple but powerful way to reduce waste, save money, and build community,” said Anna Perry, Chair of the Board of Trustees at Share Bristol. “With your help, we can bring this idea to more people and create a greener, fairer city.”
Since opening its third location at the start of the year, Share Bristol has been going from strength to strength. There are now over 1000 Bristol households that are members of Share Bristol’s Library of Things, a number which has more than doubled in the past year.
With over 2000 Things available to borrow across the three sites, the offering continues to grow, as Share Bristol’s dedicated volunteers have been sorting, cleaning, testing and adding around 100 new items to the Library of Things catalogue each month over the summer. Borrowing rates are reaching new highs too, with a record 750 loans checked out in May, many of which were popular summer items like tents and camping gear, strimmers, lawn mowers, pressure washers, and gazebos, alongside year-round favourites like carpet cleaners and drills.
The charity’s vision is that everybody shares – and supporting this fundraiser will help bring this closer to reality.
