St Peter’s Hospice Launches Epic Mount Kilimanjaro Trek Challenge
St Peter’s Hospice is inviting local adventurers, fundraisers, and bucket-list seekers to take on one of the world’s most iconic trekking challenges while supporting vital adult hospice care across Bristol.
The Bristol-based charity has officially launched its St Peter’s Hospice Mount Kilimanjaro Trek 2028. This unique expedition gives local supporters the opportunity to summit Africa’s highest mountain while raising crucial funds for patients and families facing the most difficult times of their lives.
Taking place from 3–13 February 2028, the 11-day journey will see participants trek 69 kilometres to reach the 5,895-metre summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, the world’s highest free-standing mountain. From the savannah plains and lush cloud forests of Tanzania to the alpine desert and arctic summit, every single step taken will directly fund the compassionate, specialized care provided daily by St Peter’s Hospice.
Anyone interested in joining this life-changing challenge is invited to attend a free St Peter’s Hospice information evening on Tuesday 23 June. Attendees can learn more about the trek itinerary, fundraising support, fitness training guidance, and what to expect from the adventure. The event provides a brilliant opportunity to meet representatives from St Peter’s Hospice and their official expedition partner, Global Adventures, to ask questions and discover how to secure one of the limited places.
Molly O’Donoghue, Events Fundraising Manager at St Peter’s Hospice, said: “For many, standing on the Roof of Africa is the ultimate bucket-list achievement. For those taking part with St Peter’s Hospice, it will also be a chance to make a lasting difference to our community.
“Imagine reaching the summit and watching the world open beneath you, knowing every step of your journey has helped provide dignity, comfort, and care to local people in their final days. This truly is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Without challenges like this, we couldn’t continue our vital work in caring for patients and their families.”
Three registration options are available—full fundraising, partly self-funded, and self-funded. With only 30 spaces available on the team, anyone interested is being encouraged to register their interest early. Whether participants are experienced trekkers or taking on their first major expedition, comprehensive support will be provided by the charity throughout the entire fundraising and training journey.
As Bristol’s only adult hospice, St Peter’s Hospice provides free medical, emotional, and practical support to patients and their loved ones across Bristol, South Gloucestershire, and North Somerset.
